Lunar & Lake Book Market opens in downtown Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAKE – Cooler temperatures provide opportunities for pleasant evenings of reading – just in time for a new permanent bookstore downtown.

After a handful of soft openings at the Farmers Market, Lunar & Lake Book Market opened Tuesday at 74 S. Main St., stocked with books, toys and book-related gifts. A grand opening event will follow later in October.

Earlier this year, owner Margaux Mich participated in the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership’s Pop-Up Fond du Lac program, opening the Library in July.

This new store will feature a larger selection of books across all genres, as well as more toys and gifts, including candles, mugs and bookmarks.

More books and new releases are constantly being added, Mich said. The collection may be smaller than a bigger-name bookstore, but this local business will only continue to grow, she said. If someone can’t find the book they want, they can order it.

Additionally, some of the freebies will be Mich’s own elastic bookmarks — also known as “art marks” — from her online store and Etsy, Book Art Bookmarks.
