Benalmádena launches a second-hand book market for the benefit of the Cudeca

Benalmádena Town Hall has launched the latest edition of its Solidarity Books initiative, a fundraising project that will raise funds for the Cudeca Foundation.

The sale of second-hand books will take place at the entrance of the Municipal Library of Arroyo de la Miel and will offer a range of books “at very affordable prices”.

It is the first time the book market has been held since the pandemic, and the council has organized this edition especially to mark the 30th anniversary of the Benalmádena-based cancer charity.

The initiative was launched with the aim of encouraging children to read books, a pastime which, according to the town hall, has been almost replaced by social media and games, and it will also include many parallel activities for promote municipal libraries.

The initiative, which will continue until September, was inaugurated on Monday by the Councilor for Culture, E. Pablo Centella; and Cudeca’s communications manager, Jorge López, who said, “We are very happy that this initiative returns in time to coincide with Cudeca’s 30th anniversary.

“One of the most important cultural bastions of Benalmádena are the municipal libraries: in addition to being places to enjoy their extensive bibliographic collections, they are also authentic centers of cultural promotion and study”, added the aedile.
